We hope you’re all well and surviving the restrictions placed on us by this awful COVID-19 Virus.
It has been difficult living under these conditions but also hard to provide any updates over the past few weeks. Until last week news across all states hasn’t been exactly positive towards restrictions being lifted.
Over the last week, things have been a lot more encouraging with South Australia recording no new cases of COVID in the last 7 days. If like me you have been following all the press conferences by our leaders and medical experts, then you know that now is still not the time to relax thinking we have this beat. Please remain vigilant our good work and sacrifices could be lost if we don’t follow what we are being asked to do.
Unfortunately, I cannot give you too much information on where football stands for us in Community Football or with the Southern Football League. There has been a lot of talk about the AFL returning by placing players in Isolation Hubs keeping players away from their families, and possibly playing without crowds for some if not the whole season. SANFL has begun looking at options but no concrete plans released, this also goes for Community Football.
What we are now waiting on our announcements on easing of restrictions by the Federal Government and Medical experts, this is expected on or around 11th May, what happens in the next few weeks is critical as to what restrictions will be lifted and when.
From the decisions made we will be guided by recommendations from the Government, Medical Experts, AFL, and SANFL.
At this stage, the original plan is still in play but could change depending on the lifting of any restrictions.

• Games could start on the 20th June or just after
We would like to give everyone certainty around football starting again but until we have more information we simply can’t, we can, however, promise to update you as more information comes to hand.
Finally and most importantly, please take care, and please make sure each other are OK. If you think someone is struggling with the isolation, check in on them. If you have feelings of anxiety in coping with the current situation reach out you are not alone, family, friends, coaches, and teammates are all there for you.
